Rust forms when iron reacts with oxygen, causing corrosion. Similarly, when trust is damaged by dishonesty or deceit, it can disintegrate a loving relationship.
Solid relationships are built on trust, the most important factor of all.
Honesty and accountability are the bedrock of any meaningful union. More importantly, the absence of these crucial elements will weaken the relationship. When someone is dishonest and fails to take responsibility for their actions, the other person gradually distances themselves and eventually all closeness is lost. It may be conscious or unconscious acts, subtle or aggressive, but the results are the same.
Deception erodes the relationship’s sense of safety, and without that safety, there is no real, viable connection.
It doesn’t matter that there are many other benefits to a relationship. If someone can’t trust the words and actions of the ‘other,’ then the purity is replaced with rust, slowly eating away at all corners of the partnership.
When we can count on each other’s actions and words, the relationship remains polished and clear. There is a sense of security that is built on consistency, leading to balance and stability.
No one has a perfect relationship; it only needs a solid foundation of trust. With that, all other mistakes can be accepted and overlooked. A wall of rust is never formed, and the heart keeps pumping fresh love into the relationship, keeping it full of vitality. You continue building an impenetrable connection that stands the test of time. Then, you will have something to hold dear and be proud of until the very end.
